This week's workshop with my tutor and classmates raised a number of questions that remain unanswered in relation to my chosen topic and research.

Why do we need to protect data, is it something we would lose? What is the data controlling?

1. Illegal collection of data, leading to financial loss.

Real estate agents collect information about their clients' faces. Whenever a visitor arrives at the sales office, the camera will collect it. When a consumer signs a contract for the purchase and sale of a property, they will use the consumer's ID card information and again face recognition to match information such as the time of their first visit and the number of visits, which is used to distinguish the source channel of the purchaser and to settle commission rewards with the distributor or referrer accordingly.

In one system, over 100,000 faces are collected. (Data from http://www.people.com.cn/)

2. Illegal sale of data, leading to cases of fraud

Data is sold, resulting in spam and fraudulent messages being received on mobile phones. This type of information can appear on mobile phone applications such as calendar, family, stock market, etc.

3. Data serves an audience that is equally monitored.

There is no denying that some of the reasons for collecting data are for people's convenience. Like the Marks & Spencer app, which pops up a message when you enter the area of the supermarket, but this means that you reveal your location.
