Social Vision
Through extensive analysis, the team demonstrated for the first time that Drosophila have stable and strong social affinity behaviour. They also found that social affinity behaviour was significantly reduced only when both visual and olfactory functions were eliminated in Drosophila, suggesting that social attraction between Drosophila is achieved through both visual and olfactory information.
