West Island
West Island is the name of my utopia.
The name comes from the song 'go west'. West means dream, pursuit, new life.
The song's title is attributed to the 19th-century quote "Go West, young man" commonly attributed to Horace Greeley, a rallying cry for the colonization of the American West, but also an invitation to pursue one's own dreams and individuality.

The prototype for my experimental island is CRAMOND ISLAND, a tidal island in Edinburgh.
The island was chosen for its relative isolation, its reality only at low tide and its independence and experimentation at high tide. I wanted my island to be realistic and something that people could relate to, so it was probably a good choice to choose a realistic island.
